SpecTec, a maritime software provider, recently received several media mentions. With 40 years of experience in the maritime industry, the company’s solutions enable vessel operators to extend asset life, improve safety, and ensure continuity of operations during a period of elevated transition in the maritime sector.
SpecTec CEO speaks on improving fleet maintenance and strategy
SpecTec CEO Adam Dennett contributed an op-ed to Marine Log, a prominent maritime industry publication, highlighting how digital asset management systems are critical as the commercial vessel fleet continues to age. Marine Log covers global commercial shipping news, technology, regulations, and operational insights for vessel owners and marine professionals, with a history of marine industry journalism that extends back to 1878.
The article highlights a risk in the industry: the average ship in operation today is past 17 years old, and vessels that have been in operation for more than 20 years face higher risks of safety failure, leading Dennett to state that integrated, software-based maintenance strategies are no longer optional.
He explains that SpecTec’s AMOS technology helps operators better coordinate maintenance, reduce unplanned downtime, and make strategic asset-life decisions: “Fundamentally, [AMOS] gives ship owners and operators real control of their most valuable assets and sets new standards for safety, reliability, and efficiency.”

SpecTec CEO speaks to maritime industry best practices
SpecTec CEO Adam Dennett told Splash 24/7 that the shipping industry’s next major digital leap will come not from new tools but from connecting existing systems and working to create widespread industry best practice. Splash 24/7 is an online publication covering the maritime industry, with commentaries and analysis from industry leaders.
Dennett explains that while many vessels rely on software and digital systems, “technology is siloed within the industry and data exists within multiple systems which are not integrated or talking to each other.” He adds: “There’s a huge opportunity in getting that interoperability part right. It would create real visibility across the shipping supply and value chain.”
Dennett also outlines how SpecTec plans to use integration and AI to produce product-enhancing predictive algorithms, improved customer support models, and efficient development practices.
