Volaris Group lent a helping hand to the Toronto-based youth skill development organization at their back-to-school event

This past weekend, Volaris Group supported Frontlines, a youth-focused charity in Toronto’s Weston community, with a donation in support of its annual Summer BBQ and Back-to-School Event. The event provides local youth and families with a free summer BBQ, school supplies and a day of celebration. It is an opportunity to equip young people with the tools and confidence they need to succeed in the new school year.

“Our mission has always been to give young people a safe, welcoming space where they can develop their skills, confidence, and sense of belonging,” said Leah Ali, CEO at Frontlines. “Volaris’ generosity and hands-on involvement help us meet those goals in tangible ways—whether that’s through a backpack full of supplies or the encouragement of volunteers who believe in them.”

Frontlines’ commitment to skill development and economic empowerment is well aligned with Volaris Group’s focus on leadership and talent. Volaris employees turned up to support and contributed their efforts to the cause.

“At Volaris, we are focused on nurturing talent and building future leaders in the communities and markets where we operate,” said Ryan Hill, VP of Global Communications and Brand at Volaris Group. “Frontlines embodies that same spirit by equipping youth with the tools and mentorship they need to thrive. Supporting their back-to-school event is a natural extension of our belief in investing in people.”

Volaris was happy to contribute to Frontlines to ensure its vital work – supporting over 1,500 youth each year – continues. Alongside the $25,000 donation, a team from Volaris volunteered at the event to meet the community, serve lunch and pack back-to-school backpacks.

This year’s move to Cruickshank Park marked a significant expansion for the event, allowing more space for activities, community booths, and families to gather. Volaris volunteers joined Frontlines staff in serving lunch, distributing school supplies, and packing backpacks, ensuring each child left with the resources they need to start the year strong.

Looking ahead, Frontlines is working to further their career mentorship programs, skill-building workshops, and real-world job placements for youth interested in fields such as IT, software development, and business.

Frontlines CEO Leah Ali added: “With support from organizations like Volaris, we can think bigger and dream further for our youth. Together, we can explore opportunities such as career mentorship, skill-building workshops, and funding for programs that prepare young adults for employment.”
